Thu, January 18, 2007 - 9:13 AMHi all:
There is a great group of parents that camp together in kidsville. Most of the discussion around Kidsville happens on the yahoo group: kidscamp@yahoogroups.com
Kids under 12 are free.
cheers,

I may be bringing my 10yo-to-be son this year. He's been to the playa before but not to burning man. -

Re: BM 2007 - bringing my kid
Fri, February 16, 2007 - 11:52 PMKidsville is really great! They had Pirate Story Hours, Art Cars that came by expressly to take the kids for a ride, Trampolines all over the place which were divided up so each one was sort of age-appropriate, "Drive - In" Movies (so you had something to do late into the night and didn't feel like the whole camp deserted you at sunset), and the snow cone Locomotive came by at least once a day. There was a Kidsville Center Camp Presentation and a kids parade out to the Man as well, and the kids made some lifelong friends! (Not so much my 3 year old-more like my friend's 10 year old)
I am pretty sure I'll bring my 3 year old (turns 4 on 9/1) again this year. She LOVED it last year!

Re: BM 2007 - bringing my kid
Sat, June 30, 2007 - 1:01 PMWOW! Soooo happy to see this post, albeit a bit late. My whole pregnancy I'd just assumed I'd miss this year because my baby would be too young, but here it comes, time to burn the man just around the corner, baby is here and I'm itching to just get in the car and GO. My baby will be not quite 4 mos by the time the man burns and I'm doing all the research I can to see if I can swing this... Might even bring two other of my kids that haven't been yet. I'd been thinking it wouldn't be fun with kids, but now that it's either bring them or stay home, I'm starting to see the benefits to just bringing the fam along. -

Re: BM 2007 - bringing my kid
Sun, November 18, 2007 - 4:29 PMI am due to have a baby at the end of next May.... baby will only be 3 months old come Burning Man 2008....and I really can't imagine how I could handle a new born out there..
I am curious if Rebecca and Rain brought their wee ones to the playa this past year and how it was to have a tiny baby out there..........
????
Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Re: BM 2007 - bringing my kid
Wed, December 19, 2007 - 1:39 PMHey there. I don't know if Rebecca is active on Tribe anymore, so I thought I'd answer your question instead. :-) She did take her baby, who was two months at the time. She was a breastfeeding, cosleeping, babywearing baby, to give you an idea of the type of care and contact she was used to. That little baby did better than all of us out there! With on cue breastfeeding, she had absolutely no issues with dehydration. They drove a bus out so they'd have a place to go in case of duststorms, which was definitely needed this year, and also gave them a quiet place to go if needed. Having the baby definitely tied them down a bit. Mostly, Rebecca just stayed in the shade during the day and went out at night and the early mornings. So, be with a camp you'll love just hanging out with! Have you thought of specific concerns you have? Maybe I could tell you what I've seen Rebecca and others do to address those.
